Alberta Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park is a short trail to a scenic and sparkling waterfall thundering down a narrow canyon. The hike through pines and aspens is an added treat to visiting Alberta Falls.
We hiked this trail in late spring and enjoyed the snow-capped peaks, however, this would be an exceptional winter hike for those wanting a short yet beautiful snowy winter hiking experience.

When we pulled into Glacier Gorge Parking Lot it was obvious that we had picked a nice 2nd hike for the day. Having just completed Bierstadt Lake Trail we wanted to add something quick & easy to our day. This was perfect.
The trail connected with the Glacier Creek Trail not long after we crossed the bridge over Chaos Creek. Soon after that, we came to a spot where the trail splits off to the right leading to Bear Lake. Heading left here it was a short beautiful trek to Alberta Falls.
It’s late May today and the trees have yet to show off their leaves. We can see and hear Alberta Falls before reaching them.
ALBERTA FALLS
Noted as the best waterfall in the Park, it’s a popular destination. We could see why. A stupendous 30 ft waterfall cascading down a narrow canyon was thrilling. There are lots of areas to sit, hang out, and wonder. In winter, the falls are frozen which is another glorious sight to witness.
A nice hike for all skill levels and one not to miss in every season.
NOTE: You can hike farther on to Mills Lake and The Loch from Alberta Falls. Both trails were closed when we were there. Check Rocky Mountain National Park website for updates within the Park for seasonal conditions.
