Bierstadt Lake Trail is packed with views of the Continental Divide as you hike switchbacks upward. When reaching the top a beautiful alpine lake awaits. Making your way around Bierstadt Lake you will find yourself hiking in awe as you meander in a tranquil forest.

We headed for the popular Bear Lake Trailhead and found it was a long wait to get in so decided on Bierstadt Lake Trail and found ourselves loving every minute of this hike.
It’s always a treat when walking into a lodgepole pine forest from the start of a trail.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN VIEWS!
I became totally spellbound by the views on the entire hike up a series of switchbacks.
Finding ourselves on top we encountered quite a bit of snow and not seeing but knowing the lake is here. Somewhere. We are at the Bierstadt Lake Loop Junction. We headed to our right after hearing that the other side of the lake had the best views.
About 10 minutes later we found the signpost and in just a short walk we are on the shoreline of stunning Bierstadt Lake.
BIERSTADT LAKE
Yes, the views are spectacular at this spot! It’s windy, and cold on this late May day so our stay was quick. We soon headed back to the trees where it was warmer.
At high altitudes, dehydration plus fickle weather is always something to consider. CLICK HERE> for a look at Practical gear that we love at Crazy About Colorado and have in our backpacks on every hike.
Highly recommend. Beautiful hike!
The first mile may be strenuous for those not acclimated to the altitude or new to hiking.
