Salida, CO, is one of our winter destinations for getting outside and usually not dealing with snow-covered trails. That has been our experience over the years. The Salida Trail System in town is exceptional and offers something for everyone. It is a mountain biking haven in summer, but quiet hiking in winter.

Desert and mountainous landscapes with patches of icy, snowy areas are a treat in winter.
Dried flora dots the hillside with oranges and yellows. There are numerous trails to choose from. Today, we are headed to the white lookout above the S.
One of our favorite longer trails in the Salida Arkansas Trail System is the > North Backbone Trail.
Salida is a fun town year-round and a destination for Monarch Ski Area and Monarch Pass hikes, with specialty shops and fabulous restaurants.
