Sapphire Point Overlook and Trail – Head out for a short drive from Breckenridge or Dillon, in the heart of Colorado’s Ski Country, and find a “not-to-be-missed” easy peasy trail. The perfect spot for bringing kiddos, the elderly, visitors, and newbie hikers.

The overlook and trail show off Colorado in spades, with sweeping views of surrounding mountain towns and snow-capped peaks.

The trail is a gentle 0.6-mile loop through tall pines & wildflowers. Doesn’t sound like much for a seasoned hiker like me but its beauty is captivating and never a disappointment. We do the loop year-round every time we are in the area.

It’s stunning in the winter months too!

New to hiking and want to get a feel for a mountain hike? This trail might just be the one for you!

Sapphire Point, Summit County CO, easy hikes, family hikes, Dillon Reservoir, best views in Summit, Breckenridge, Breck

You’ll be greeted by a colony of chipmunks scrabbling among the rocks. It’s highly recommended not to feed them.

We love coming here and never miss it. It’s quick, yet peaceful for a short easy stroll, a picnic, fresh air, or just because. Add Sapphire Point to your Breckenridge, Keystone, Frisco, Silverthorne, or Dillon visit.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY

Picnic tables and manmade teepees along the trail make it a great family outing, a place to show off to out-of-towners, especially those wanting to see Colorado and can’t do the big hikes.

Non-essentials but fun to have when hiking in Colorado’s wilderness areas “Binoculars“, Wildflower Identification, & “What’s that animal track?“.

OVERLOOK

You will love this short hike with big views.

Our photos are from the summer months in Summit County but imagine this trail in winter on snowshoes! Perfect for the first time out snowshoeing, or if packed down, a nice hike in YakTraks.

NOTE: Popular spot for weddings, you can actually reserve the Overlook for private gatherings & weddings through the Dillon Ranger District. Loads of information on their website.
