Sawmill Gulch Trail, a family-friendly Breckenridge summer surprise under Snowflake chairlift…
I’ve never been on the Breckenridge ski slopes without snow, who knew what lies underneath. I loved this very short, easy, yet surprisingly fun family-friendly hike.
A treat for any age, family-friendly fun forest wonder
SNOWFLAKE CHAIRLIFT
The trail has just a slight incline through fairytale-like forests, and a creek flowing down the slope. Muddy areas, water to run through, leaves squishy beneath your feet, bridges to cross, sticks and rocks to collect, your kids will feel like they are on a great adventure.
Hard to imagine this is all buried in snow in just a few months. Looking up, glimpses of Snowflake chairlift high above, a quick reminder of what’s to come.
I found it relaxing, beautiful, peaceful for an end-of-the-day stroll. I didn’t want it to end. Perfect for out-of-town visitors to Colorado to get a glimpse of what a Colorado summer has to offer.
As I came to the end of the trail, a few bridges crisscrossed the creek, leading down a wooden plank to a set of stairs with no view of what lies ahead.
SAWMILL RESERVOIR
Really surprised… even shocked when at the top was a beautiful Reservoir. My mouth dropped open, so startled I was by the setting. Stunning … sparkling blue water, surrounded by tall pines.
People fishing, benches about, and a trail to wander around the lake. The adventure continues…
Breckenridge in summer is as enticing as winter!
Brings out the child in you… this trail and just steps away from town. Not a cardio workout but in just a little over a mile, up and back, you come down smiling…
A good hike if you haven’t acclimated to the altitude yet.
