Strawberry Lake Trail is a fairytale dream of lush forests, wildflowers, and stream crossings, towards stunning views when reaching Strawberry Lake.

The hike starts uphill and switchbacks uphill on rugged terrain. Views of beautiful Lake Granby appear along the trail until heading deep into the forest.

NOTE: There is no trail signpost marking the trail; however, it is well-maintained and highly used. Watch for parked cars on pull-outs along the road to find the trail.

I wouldn’t call this a wildflower hike, but the abundance of Columbines was stunning. Sprinkles of blues and yellows dotted the lush green areas. I loved it.

Deep into the tall pines, the air is still, the birds are singing, and the squirrels are chattering away about our arrival. It’s a busy forest; stream crossings, muddy areas, and mosquitoes greet us before reaching Strawberry Lake.

The trail becomes flat, and a vast meadow appears; we are at Strawberry Lake with meadow views in minutes.

Surrounded by a series of wetlands, the serene alpine lake has limited access. There is a floating dock to sit upon at the water’s edge. But the views make up for hanging out along the shoreline.

NOTE: The signage stated: There are no fish in the lake.

Developing clouds along the Peaks darken Strawberry Lake and help us decide it was time to head back.

Moderately challenging and gorgeous from start to finish. This was a great hike.
