Where do you find a troll hike and fairies on the trail? In Breckenridge, CO of course!
This was almost too much fun finding wonder while hiking. What a great way to get kids to love hiking, do a troll hike, and find a fairy forest.
Find the troll in Breck was how it all started.

Put on by breckcreate.org, a troll moved into the forests of Breckenridge.
UPDATE
Isak Heartstone has moved!
Isak Heartstone is now located on the Trollstigen Trail, located in the southeast corner by the Illinois Gulch trailhead. (close to the Ice Rink). Now just a short stroll to see this magnificent 15-foot tall wooden troll sculpture.
BELOW is an article on the previous Isak Heartstone before the new Isak Heartstone was created and moved to a new location. You will find directions to the Fairy Forest below along with photos from the previous Isak Heartstone.
THE FIRST ISAK HEARTSTONE
A 30 ft troll, no kidding! Huge, amazing, and absolutely splendid as it sat among a field of rock cairns.
Next on to the Fairy Forest located on Sawmill Gulch Trail.
Sawmill Gulch Trail is a family friendly hike under Snowflake chairlift. One of my favorite short hikes in the area.
After a hike up Sawmill Gulch Trail, it took a while to find the fairies… wandering around the lake, finally, a sign leading the way.
FIND THIS SIGN!
Look for the Fairy Forest sign among the trees around Sawmill Lake. Somewhere to your left as you climb the stairs from the trail when you reach Sawmill Lake.
For about a mile, little handmade fairy cottages lined the trail. Built by local families and visitors to Breckenridge.
Whimsical and magical. Too much fun discovering all the hidden treasures in the woods.
