A moderate hike is for novice and avid hikers who want a more significant challenge. Be prepared for an incline with occasional steady steep sections. The terrain can be rocky, with roots, and harder to maneuver. Trekking poles are recommended. Mileage varies and always consider the altitude of the hike as well.
Moderate hikes will be challenging for an unconditioned person — Generally 5 to 8 miles.

STRENUOUS HIKES
Long length, substantial elevation gain, and rugged terrain.
These trails will challenge most hikers. The hike is more extended and steeper; the elevation gain is high on some trails — generally 7 to 12 miles.
